The Celebrations department's mission is to offer four months of accessible, ticket-free festivities throughout France, through three major projects:

  • Organizing the torch relay: 69 days, 11,000 torchbearers and more than 450 towns crossed
  • Support for local authorities and partners in running 2024 clubs and free events, to bring the magic of the Games to local communities and all generations.
  • The organization of the Parc des Champions, which will welcome international Olympic medallists at the foot of the Eiffel Tower to celebrate the emotion of their victory with their fans, the day after their exploits.

Delphine Moulin's Olympic journey began with bib 27. 27, like her finish rank within Paris 2024, in April 2018. The secret to her performance? Good preparation! "I've been working for the Olympic movement since the 2004 Athens Olympics. That's quite a few Olympiads, in winter and summer! And on major international sporting events since 2001".

But Paris 2024 is still something special. At least for two reasons. "First, there's the fact that we're working in France. That's obviously a great source of pride. But also because of my mission. As Director of Celebrations, I lead the team of over 100 people in charge of ensuring the success of the popular and sustainable dimension of Paris 2024."

Success is a team effort. What kind of coach is Delphine Moulin? I manage an in-house team of around forty people, enriched by some 80 people employed by our partner agencies. I multiply meetings and field visits to ensure that everyone takes full ownership of their mission and their contribution to the common objectives

It's a well-known fact that at the highest level, the quality of equipment and rigorous training make all the difference. A former top-level sportswoman herself*, Delphine is fully involved in the high points of preparation. "For example, I made a point of visiting each of the three Arcelor Mittal sites that produce the torch from 100% recycled steel. I also spent a lot of time in Marseille and Brest to supervise the organization of the critical phases of the torch's journey, between the arrival of the Belem from Athens and the departure of the trimaran skippered by Armel Le Cléac'h for the West Indies.

Going the distance is another of Delphine Moulin's strengths, as her performances in ski touring and surfing demonstrate. "We put a lot of energy into defining our objectives and giving our vision a meaning that everyone could understand. Then we had to plan and organize the events. The final phase, during the Games, is to ensure that the magic of the Games is felt everywhere. And to ensure that France draws new impetus from the Games.

And what about reconversion? After the games, I'm reactivating my sports and culture consulting company. My passion is to build bridges between these two worlds. And that's something I've succeeded in doing with my colleague at the Paris 2024 Cultural Department.
