Interview of Frederic Mercier, Director of the Specialised Master in International Trade in Wines and Spirits

"The Master's program takes 20 to 25 students on board each year to specialize in French and international marketing and sales functions. Some are retraining, others have a highly technical profile, such as DNO/agricultural engineer or lawyer. Others have completed a business degree. Whatever their previous career path, they will be taken in hand according to a coaching logic, where the entrepreneurial spirit and confrontation with reality are the rule. 90% of interactions are provided by professionals in the sector. The academic year includes 5 weeks of study trips, culminating in a 4-6 month internship and a thesis. 

The Mastère's strength also lies in its long history, with a substantial and diversified network of alumni. In fact, they account for 30% of our lecturers. Together, we maintain a very lively collective culture. This doesn't mean we can't evolve in small steps, for example to give more space to CSR or digital technologies. After all, our DNA is still to lead everyone to the job of their dreams in the industry. It's an intense year, but I'm really proud of the fact that it's a real springboard for each student towards the success in which they see themselves.  " 

Bio :

Frédéric Mercier's early life was spent working for a major detergent manufacturer, before his marketing and sales skills were put to good use in the international wine & spirits business.

His second life is that of an entrepreneur and business angel, taking as much pleasure behind the counter of his wine bar as he does valuing real estate.

An occasional but regular lecturer to students throughout his corporate career, Frédéric inaugurated his 3^e life with a course on entrepreneurship, before taking over the direction of the Mastère in 2016.
