School of Media, Culture & Communication: BSB opens doors to creation
BSB takes a new step in its development with the opening of the School of Media, Culture & Communication. Scheduled for the start of the 2025 academic year, this new School will be located at the heart of the brand-new Lyon campus. Offering 4 brand new programs, including a Bachelor's degree for post-baccalaureate students, it promises to be a key player for up-and-coming talent in these three sectors, all of which are affected by the transformations taking place in our world.
"This new School is designed to support the creative process," explains Jean-Yves Klein, Director of the École. Accessible from post-baccalaureate level, it offers two flagship programs: a Bachelor's degree in Media, Culture & Communication, including a third year of work-study, and an eponymous MSc, delivered over two years with 50% of courses in English. These two diplomas complete the sector portfolio that already includes the MECIC in Paris and the MSc Arts & Cultural Management.
Students will benefit from an immersive pedagogical approach, focused on Learning by Doing. Facilities include a Creative Hall for events, a Creative Lab equipped for audiovisual production and podcasting, and a Design Lab for experimenting with technologies such as 3D printing. "The aim is to make our graduates autonomous in the creation and distribution of content," emphasizes Jean-Yves Klein.
Backed by a network of 80 prestigious partners (Ubisoft, TikTok, Canal+, Universal) and 19,000 alumni, the school also draws on Lyon's cultural ecosystem. "Lyon is a fertile breeding ground for the creative industries, and France's second-largest cultural region. The city has a rich ecosystem with players whose core business is in phase with our project, such as Arty Farty (organizer of Nuits Sonores, among others). The School intends to become a magnet for local and international players, offering its students rewarding work-study opportunities and collaborations."
Once they've graduated, alumni will be able to work in three main areas: management and production, distribution and communication, and marketing. They will be able to integrate structures of all sizes and in very different universes such as communications, music, cinema, media, festivals, gaming, culture, etc.
In short, the School of Media, Culture & Communication combines the best of a leading business school (academically, in terms of programs approved by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and in terms of recognition) and a communications school that embraces the challenges of creation in a world turned upside down by digital technology. "Our aim? To offer students the keys to fulfill their potential in constantly evolving sectors, and to contribute to the emergence of innovative projects," concludes Jean-Yves Klein.
