Second-hand luxury, really? In 90 minutes, Inès Ennaji, Benjamin Petitjean and Alice Sordello demonstrated the relevance of the subject. In front of an audience of around fifty, they sketched out the contours of a highly dynamic sector that is growing exponentially. Are the big names in fashion currently neglecting the resale of their creations? No problem!

Highly professional and increasingly organized players know how to capitalize on the global appetite for luxury. Who are their customers? New profiles, looking to escape the somewhat rigid decorum of the big houses. Hasty enthusiasts, who appreciate the immediate availability of iconic models manufactured in small batches.

Nor will it have escaped the attention of the 26 MSc Luxury Management & Innovation students in the room that the industry is recruiting. Experts to authenticate, digitize and streamline logistics that are still too little globalized. Prospects which also delighted the alumni, who were also present in large numbers.

Naturally, discussions continued warmly over lunch, served in the Château's Grand Cellier.

First or second hand, the stars in the eyes of the participants shone brightly.

Reflections and reactions :

"A luxury object is one that is well designed, well made and lasts. Second-hand makes luxury accessible to different profiles." - Laëtitia Allemand, BSB'16 CIVS and animator

"The DNA of luxury is transmission. So it's not surprising that second-hand is so successful, with growth outstripping that of first-hand." - Benjamin Petitjean, BSB'07 and speaker

"For Galeries Lafayette, developing the second-hand sector is not only part of its CSR strategy, but also a real lever for development." - Alice Sordello, BSB'18 and speaker

"The second-hand economy needs profiles like those from BSB. We're looking for experts in technology, marketing, logistics and finance." - Inès Ennaji, speaker

"We're sharing a wonderful experience in an incredible place. Not to mention, of course, the interest of the subject, which opens up new perspectives for the student I still am a bit."- Émilien Durand, MSc student

"I came to discover second-hand goods, and I'm really not disappointed. It's really good that BSB is at the forefront of this subject, which resonates with the aspirations of Generation Z." -Pauline Jeantot, MSc student

"Clearly, it's only a matter of time before brands integrate second-hand products. I think it's essential for BSB to be able to address this sector with a structured approach". - Marie-Sophie Ruet, BSB'14

"The presence of alumni with very different backgrounds is an immense asset for us. We measure how much bigger our school is than the years we spend here!" - Évodie Lamy, MSc student
